A mini cutie by Hermès; the Mini Kelly 20 Bag in chocolate brown ostrich leather. Come to mama!

We have had this baby Kelly before, in white leather. The hardware of this bag is executed in gold tone, the stirdy leather in chocolate brown. A traditional Kelly turnlock closure, but without the lock.

The exterior is clean and impeccable, no scratches or stains. Lining in smooth leather, one small side pocket. Neat and clean, no odors or signs of usage.

The detachable strap measures 80 centimeters, so this baby can also be worn on the shoulder. Four golden studs at the bottom to prevent it from scratches and stains.

This is a true collector's item. Every bag is handcrafted in France and has numerous characteristics. We cannot mention them all, but here are a few.

Nowadays the atelier of Hermès is in Pantin, one of the suburbs of Paris. A building of 200.000m2 that counts three storeys. All devoted to the production of handbags. One person makes one bag from the beginning untill the end, nobody interferes. It takes as long as 15 to 20 hours to put a bag together.

Traditionally an alphabetic character is given to the bag to mark the year that it's made. This character is to be found at the end of the closure-belt. Between 1945 and 1970 only a character was used, later on they have put an additional circle or square to it.

This bag has stamp S in a circle, which tells us it’s from 1989. So it’s 28 years of age at this very moment, but it's like new!

The leather, handle, bottom, interior and shoulder strap are undamaged and free of scratches. The hardware is in superb condition, but has some very light and superficial scratches.

Condition: outstanding

Made in France.

The 'Kelly' is an almost sacred bag, just as the muze that it is named after. Grace Kelly is the definition of timeless elegance. The original prototype of this bag is from the year 1892, when Hermès made a bag to attach to the saddle of a horse. The prototype was adjusted through the years, but the Kelly as sold today is almost identical to the 'Sac a Depeches' introduced in the 30's.

In 1954 Grace Kelly was given this bag to use it in the movie 'To Catch A Thief' by Alfred Hitchcock. After her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco she often wore the bag in public. So people started to call it the Kelly Bag. In 1977 this name was officially given to the ba
